Kotor is located in the heart of the Bay of Kotor, in the southwestern part of Montenegro. The city is well connected by road, air, and sea transport, making it easy to reach from across the region and Europe.

From Croatia (Dubrovnik)
There are two border crossings near Herceg Novi:
- Debeli Brijeg (Karasovići) – the main and busiest crossing
- Kobila (Vitaljina) – an alternative crossing, often with fewer queues
From the border to Kotor is about 40–45 km, and the drive takes around 1 hour, depending on traffic.
From Bosnia and Herzegovina

From Trebinje to Kotor, the drive takes approximately 1.5 hours.
From Serbia
The most commonly used border crossings are:

The route typically continues via Podgorica or Nikšić towards the coast.
From Albania
You can enter Montenegro via the Božaj (Hani i Hotit) border crossing near Podgorica, then continue by road toward Budva and Kotor.

Tivat Airport (TIV)
Located about 8 km from Kotor. Transfer time is 10–15 minutes.
Podgorica Airport (TGD)
Located about 90 km away. Transfer time is around 1.5 hours.
Dubrovnik Airport (DBV)
Located about 75 km away. Transfer time is 1.5–2 hours, depending on border traffic.

The Belgrade–Bar railway connects Montenegro with Serbia. The nearest train stations are in Podgorica and Bar, from where travelers can continue to Kotor by bus or car.
